Mouxy

Mouxy is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Mouxy is located 420 meters above sea level. M., near Aix -les- Bains, about 13 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the department of Savoie, on the western edge of the massif of the Wallows and at the foot of Mont Revard, a scenic location about 160 m above the lake level of Lake Bourget.

The area of ​​6.28 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the foothills. The western border runs more or less along the outskirts of Aix -les- Bains, on a terrace above the center. The area is drained by the village stream of Mouxy west to Tillet and thus to the Lac du Bourget. To the east, the municipality's area extends in a narrow strip on the first gently rising slope of Mouxy. This is followed by the wooded steep slopes of Mont Revard follows, which is characterized by its distinctive low vertical rock walls. History

The village appears in the 12th century for the first time under the name of Moussy in the documents. Since the 13th century, the village was owned by the old-established family Mouxy.

Population

With 2149 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Mouxy one of the smaller communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, a striking increase in population was recorded since the early 1960s thanks to the attractive residential area again. Since then, the population has more than doubled.

Attractions

The village church of Mouxy was built in the 19th century. On the slopes of Mont Revard at 893 m above sea level. M. is the chapel of Saint -Victor. The former oil mill is no longer in operation.

Economy and infrastructure

Mouxy was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. In addition, there are now several companies of small and medium enterprises.
