This was accompanied by actions against the KDP. Some criticized Gorran that it causes unnecessary turmoil and argued that there was no reason for the overthrow of the Kurdish government. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have urged that protests should be allowed, and have called for an independent investigation into the deaths of protesters.
