Movement for National Reform

The Movement for National Reform (Arabic حركة الإصلاح الوطني, French Mouvement pour la réforme national, also briefly Islah ) is a moderate Islamic party in Algeria. It is led by Djahid Younsi. Its general secretary since 2010 Djamel Benabdeslam.

The party was founded by Abdallah Djaballah 1999 seceded from the Algerian - Nahda movement, as they criticized the cooperation of the party with the government. She stands firmly opposed the change in the current family law, which since 1984 disadvantaged women.

In the presidential elections of 2004, the Movement for National Reform came up with 5% of the vote on the third place. In the parliamentary elections of 2007, the party won 3 seats in the Algerian parliament while they got the 2002 elections even more than 9.5 % of the vote and won 43 seats.
