Movement of Popular Participation

The Movimiento de Participación Popular (MPP ) ( German: Movement for the participation of the people ) is a political party in Uruguay.

The party was founded in 1989 by leading members of the Tupamaros, one originating from the 1960s and 70s guerrilla movement in Uruguay. This included the March 2010 current President of Uruguay José Mujica. Continuity for the founding of the party was the decision to form a political wing of the movement, to go to the parliamentary road. The MPP is a member of the Broad Front party alliance, which currently forms the government in Uruguay.
