Action

The title character, Mr. Prochartschin, lives in the guest house of Ustínja Feodorovna. He appears humble and down to earth. Most salient trait of the hero is his frugality; Dostoevsky describes how he eats only half your plate at lunch in the board to pay only half the amount. His roommate at the Pension suspect with him - especially in his suitcase - untold riches. One evening remains missing Mr. Prochartschin; he does not return to the board. For days he remains - despite intensive search - untraceable. When he returned a few days later, enters it cab drivers. Mr. Prochartschin is unconscious. The next day he spends in bed until he ( apparently without reason ) dies. When the police commissioner is present, he does death as irrelevant. Instead, he leaves open the said case; in this, however, are just all kinds of personal stuff. The mattress of the dead but surprisingly almost 2500 rubles will be discovered. Thus, the reader seems completely forfeited the whole work of the Lord Prochartschin, as well as his life.
