Origin and History

On the Indian subcontinent as independent and outside almost unknown types of dogs have developed that were bred to race. This includes the Greyhound Breed Mudhol Hound.

The Mudhol is an ancient breed from the region of the Deccan Plateau in western India. His ancestors are probably several greyhounds as the Afghan and the Saluki, who came with dealers and mercenaries to India. Today it is used as a hunting dog. Depending on the area, he is also known by other names. The name refers to the town near Mudhol Bijapur. Recognized as a separate breed he is so far only a few Indian breeders' associations with different names such as " Mudhol " or "Caravan Hound".

Description

The Mudhol is up to 72 cm tall. The typical wind dog head is narrow with a long catch. The hanging, medium-sized ears are slightly rounded at the tips. Expressive, dark, oval eyes characterize the visual hunters. The coat is usually short and not specified in the color.
