Description

The Schwarzfrüchtige wire is a deciduous shrub, creeping, mat-like growing dwarf shrub with wiry, thin, fine gray haired, gold-colored to black branches. The leaves are ovate to round, 5-10 mm long and have a about 3 millimeters long stem. The upper leaf surface is dark green, the underside gray-green. The flowers are yellowish green and stand alone or in pairs in the leaf axils. The species flowers from May to June. The fruits are black and shiny.

Dissemination

One finds the way to New Zealand in cool damp forests on well drained, moist to wet, moderately nutrient-rich, sandy or gravelly - rich, acidic to neutral soils. However, it avoids calcareous soils. The species prefers sunny locations, it is frost-resistant thermophilic and only moderate.
