After Yusuf V. had been overthrown because of an alliance with the Castilian King Juan II, succeeded to the family of the Banigash Muhammad X. again establishing itself as ruler of the Nazarite kingdom. However, this could not overcome the opposition of the Abencerrajes, so that he was already in 1447 by Muhammad IX. could be removed from power with their support.
