Muji

K. K. Ryohin Keikaku (Japanese株式会社 良品 计画, Kabushiki - gaisha ryohin Keikaku, .. Engl Ryohin Keikaku Co. Ltd. ) is a Japanese lifestyle chain headquartered in Toshima, Tokyo Prefecture, which was founded in 1980. Under the brand mujirushi ryohin (无印良品, dt about "no brand, good products " ), MUJI short, it is represented with about 400 stores in 16 countries. Its shares are traded under the trading code 7453 in the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

In Germany, there are seven " lifestyle stores " of the company - one each in Dusseldorf, Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Hanover.

History

The company was founded in December 1980 as a private label of the Seibu department store chain. In 1983 the first retail store Mujirushi ryohin Aoyama (无印良品 青山) was opened in Aoyama district of Tokyo's Minato district. In June 1989, the company's part as K. K. was Ryohin Keikaku spun and completely independent of Seibu in March 1990. In May 1991, the foreign subsidiary Mujirushi Ryohin Europe was founded and opened in July, the first store outside of Japan in London under the name Muji West Soho. In October, the Foundation of the subsidiary Mujirushi Ryohin Bermuda Ltd. followed. and in November Mujirushi Ryohin Hong Kong Ltd.. In March 1994 the establishment of Ryohin Keikaku Europe Ltd followed. for European businesses. In December 1998, the company was listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose in August 2000 on the first segment. In 2005 the company 5 iF product design gold awards won. In July, the daughter Muji Germany GmbH was founded and opened the first store in Germany in Düsseldorf K-Galerie. Followed in 2006 Munich, 2008 Berlin, 2009 Cologne, Hamburg in 2010 and since February 9, 2012 Frankfurt. On September 25, 2012, the seventh German store opened in Hanover.

Corporate Philosophy

The name is the short form of Mujirushi ryohin, which may be translated as: " No brand, good products ". MUJI is characterized by minimalist design, pure functionality and products that are made possible resources. The range includes stationery, office supplies, cosmetics, household appliances, clothing and furniture. Well-known designers in the world working for the Japanese company, but anonymous, so that each product remains unclear who designed it, since only the design and the sheer usefulness of the products are intended to convince the customer, but not household names.

The Group has, inter alia, cafes, restaurants and flower shops. Some products are exhibited and sold in London's Victoria and Albert Museum and the New York Museum of Modern Art.
