The station Mukōgaoka -yuen (Japanese向ヶ丘 遊園 駅, Mukōgaoka -yuen -eki ) is located in the district of Tama in the city of Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture.

History

The station was opened in 1927 Mukōgaoka - Yuen called Inada Noborito from the private Odakyu Odawara Dentetsu as a stop on the line. At the same time a steam-powered excursion train was opened, which oscillated between the station and the amusement park Mukōgaoka -yuen. A few months after the opening of the station was to stop the Express trains of Odawara Line.

Due to the war, and by a lack of demand lost the station in 1944 its status as the express train stop. This he received in 1952 again when in the course of the Japanese economic growth, passenger numbers began to increase sharply.

1955, the railway station in Mukōgaoka -yuen was renamed to emphasize its importance and proximity to the theme park. The steam train for amusement park noted in 1965 and ceased operation in 1966 by a monorail ( Monorail Mukōgaoka -yuen ,向ヶ丘 遊園 モノレール) replaced that was operated as the Odawara Line of the Odakyu Dentetsu. The monorail presented in 2000 the operation and was dismantled in 2001.

1991 reached the station with 71 254 passengers per day, its highest-ever usage. The passenger numbers have since declined somewhat, due in part to the closure of the monorail and the closing of the amusement park in 2002. Thus, the station reached in 2008 64.306 passengers per day.

On Mukōgaoka -yuen station the trains of the Limited Express ( Tokkyu ), Express ( kyuko ), Semi Express ( Junkyū ), Section Semi Express ( Kukan Junkyū ) and Local ( Kakueki Teisha ) of the Odawara Line.

Environment

The station Mukōgaoka - Yuen is in close proximity to private Senshu University. In addition, the Nihon Minka -en open air museum is located near the railway station.

At the station there are bus stops the city of Kawasaki, the Tokyu Bus Corporation, the Odakyu Dentetsu and the Kanagawa Prefecture.

The former surfaces of the monorail have been converted to green spaces and bicycle parking 2004. The concrete pillars of the infrastructure have been partially rebuilt in a reduced form and provided with trellises for plants. A sign near the station Mukōgaoka - Yuen recalls the former monorail.
