Nihon Minka-en

The Nihon Minka -en (Japanese日本 民 家园, dt " Japanese Folk House Park ") is an open-air museum in the Japanese city of Kawasaki. It was opened in 1967 and is supported by the city of Kawasaki.

The 23 people here translocated houses ( minka ) from the late 17th to early 20th century mostly came from the regions of Kanto (focus Kanagawa ), Shin'etsu and Tohoku. A special attraction is a built in 1857 Kabuki stage from the Mie Prefecture.

Volunteers run through the museum (also in English ) and maintain Japanese craft traditions such as fabric dyeing.
