Munda languages
The Munda languages are a common in South Asia branch of Austro-Asiatic language family. In addition to the Southeast Asian Mon-Khmer languages , they form the second main branch of Austro-Asiatic languages.
The 19 Munda languages are spoken in addition a total of about 10 million people mainly in India in Bangladesh. The most important Munda Santali language, which has 6 million speakers and is recognized as one of 22 national languages of India. The speakers of the Munda languages belong to the illiterate Adivasi tribal population, so the languages are largely schriftlos and have no literary tradition. Name key to this language family was the people of Munda.
