Črna na Koroškem ( German: Schwarzenbach ) is a municipality in the region Carinthian, Slovenia
Location and population
In the general community, consisting of nine villages, 3,553 people live. The main town Črna na Koroškem has 2,341 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude of 581 m. Črna na Koroškem is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Mežatal and is just a few kilometers from the Austrian border. Cognitively disabled community residents commute to employment and supervised work daily in the delavnica Florijan in neighboring Globasnitz in Austria.
History
The Church of Črna was first mentioned in 1137 as a branch church of St. Michael ob Bleiburg documented. 1616, the village became an independent parish. Around the year 1665 they started with the mining industry in this region. The lead and zinc mine is one of the oldest mines of this kind in the Alps. The lugs reach a length of almost 1,000 km.
Worth seeing
Noteworthy is the Najevska lipa, a nearly 800 year-old linden tree. The imposing size and history makes this tree a national monument.
