Muppberg

The Muppberg - not to be confused with the nearby hamlet called Mupperg the community Föritz - is a 516 meters high situated between Neustadt bei Coburg, Sonnenberg and Heubisch witnesses mountain. On its summit stands the Arnold hut, a named after Max Oscar Arnold shelter, and next to the 28 meter high tower Prince Regent.

Namesake of the inaugurated on June 4, 1905 observation tower is Ernst II zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg, who after the death of his father Duke Alfred on 30 July 1900 to 18 July 1905, the business of government in the duchies of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the more underaged Carl Eduard led. The Muppberg is very well served by many trails.

The playwright Tancred Dorst used for the Muppberg in his play "On the Chimborazo " because of the inner-German border and the persons acting symbolically the name of a remote Latin American mountain.
