Musée de l'Élysée

The Musée de l' Elysée is a photography museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The museum is housed in a mansion in the Little Ouchy, overlooking Lake Geneva. The building was built in 1780-83 by architect Abraham Fraisse for a Swiss army officer, and is surrounded by an extensive park-like grounds. The property was acquired in 1971 by the Swiss government and renovated. In October, the establishment of the Musée de l' Elysée by Charles -Henri Favrod was.

On the four floors of the house are now eight different exhibition spaces in which both fixed permanent exhibitions, as well as changing theme exhibitions. Owned by the Musée de l' Elysée are over 100,000 original photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries, including recordings by Francis Frith, Robert Capa, John Phillips, Marco Giacomelli and a unique collection of the first color photographs of Gabriel Lippmann. A focus is also the presentation of Swiss photographer, like Nicolas Bouvier, Adolphe Braun, Ella Maillart or Hans Steiner.
