Museum FLUXUS

The Museum Fluxus Plus, own spelling " museum FLUXUS ", is Potsdam's first and only Museum of Modern Art.

Location and nature

It is located in the Schiffbauergasse and was opened in April 2008. With approximately 1,000 square feet permanent exhibition space, large foyer with café and "art life -shop " and the " atrium", an area for variable events it forms a cultural meeting place in Potsdam directly on the depths of the lake.

On two floors works from private collections are shown. On the ground floor a permanent exhibition on the international and inter-media Fluxus movement is shown, which were among Vostell, Emmett Williams, Ben Patterson, Nam June Paik and many other artists in the 1960s. Works by contemporaries and friends such as Arman, Lebel, Christo, Niki de Saint -Phalle, Raymond Hains, Manfred Leve, Ann Noël and others complete the picture of the avant-garde in the second half of the 20th century.

To enable the view of today's interpretations of the maxim "art is life" represent four contemporary artists exhibit their works ever in a room. On display are works by Costantino Ciervo, Hella de Santa Rossa, Lutz Friedel and Sebastian Heiner.

Vostell

Upstairs is a cross -section of the life's work of Wolf Vostell is shown; minor works, which is the complete spectrum Vostell under the motto " art of living. Art is to reflect life. " The collection ranges from works of the young Vostell up to the very last creations shortly before his death. It includes the Fluxus and Happenings artist, printmaker, sculptor, composer, painter and video pioneer.
