Music

The music is characterized by strong contrasts. The piece begins very slowly and carried. John Miles sings the first verse to the piano. In the second half of the stanza strings join. Then follows a fast instrumental part in 7/4-Takt with the usual instrumentation of a rock band and a brief appearance on lead guitar. The tempo changes abruptly at the beginning and John Miles repeated parts of the first stanza. A dominated by strings slower section initiates a repetition of the fast second part, which is instrumented but stronger, especially with the continuing string arrangements and additional brass section, here too the instrumentation gradually increases. This part goes without hard cut at the end, which brought together the existing elements with voices to a large, worn -finals and John Miles again sings the first verse.
