Musikproduktion Dabringhaus und Grimm

The music production Dabringhaus & Grimm (MDG ) is a record label for classical music in Detmold, which was founded in 1978 by Werner Dabringhaus and Reimund Grimm.

Among the regularly published on MDG artists include the Leipzig String Quartet, the ensemble Musica Alta Ripa and Consortium Classicum, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the organist Rudolf Innig and Ben van Oosten, the harpsichordist Bernhard Klapprott and pianist Christian Zacharias, Stefan Irmer, Claudius Tanski and Steffen Schleiermacher. In addition, MDG has an exclusive contract with the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra.

MDG aims to produce very realistic -sounding recordings in rooms with very good acoustics; Magazines for HiFi, Audiophile and high- Ender regularly confirm the quality of the recordings.

MDG is a member of the club CLASS - Association of Classical Independents in Germany eV ( independent record producers and distributors in the field of classical music, world music and jazz).

  • Echo Klassik Award 2006 for "Best Surround Recording of the Year"
  • In 2011, seven artists from MDG were awarded Echo Klassik Awards. Among other things, Christian Zacharias received with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the award for the best surround sound recording and Thomas Honickel, Christian Firm Bach and the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn to Classical Music for Children Award.
