MusiXTeX

MusiXTeX is a macro collection, by which you can use TeX notation. It is available as free software under the GPL.

To enter the notes to change programs are as NoteEdit. Using a text editor you can then edit the exported TeX file and finally output as DVI and convert to PostScript and PDF.

Alternatively, the preprocessor PMX provides for a significantly simplified and note input in addition to the TeX file also generate a MIDI file. M -TX as an additional preprocessor simplifies enter lyrics.

MusiXTeX runs (as well as LilyPond ) both under Unix platforms (eg, Linux, Mac OS X) and Microsoft operating systems.
