Mustafa Nayem

Mustafa Najem, Ukr: Мустафа Найєм, Russ: Мустафа Найем ( born June 28, 1981 in Kabul, Afghanistan) is a Ukrainian journalist and activist Afghan origin. As correspondent of " Pravda Ukrajinska " he was known for spectacular revelations. He also participated in numerous protests as part of the "Stop Censorship ". He is regarded as one of the initiators of the protest movement of the Euromaidan.

Biography

Najem graduated 1998, the Technical School in Kiev and in 2004 the Aerospace Systems Department of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute.

2005-2007 he worked as a reporter for the newspaper " Kommersant- Ukraine».

Since 2006 he has been an employee of the independent online newspaper " Pravda Ukrajinska ".

2009 Najem was known when he presented this unpleasant questions to obtain the government residence " Meschyhirja " during a live discussion with then- presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych at the Ukraina TV channel.

In May 2010 he founded with a group of journalists critical movement "Stop Censorship! " Whose Coordinating he belongs. The movement joined in a short time over 100 journalists.

2010 Najem was arrested by officers of the Berkut special unit, allegedly because of his suspicious appearance to the type a Caucasian. After his release, he wrote the next day the article " xenophobia should not be the face of the Ukrainian nation," in which he portrayed the circumstances of his arrest and called for the dismissal of the responsible officer for his arrest.

From September 2011 until the end of April 2013 Najem worked for the Ukrainian TV channel TVi channel, but left this in 2013 because of a conflict with the new management. Then he founded with colleagues who had also left the station, an Internet project from which the " Hromadske.TV " ( German: Civil TV) was created.

Mustafa was one of the first who called on Facebook Ukrainians for a rally on Independence Square in Kiev to protest against the " postponement " of the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union. That was the start of the mass protests on the Euromaidan in Kiev, which led to the fall of the Yanukovych regime ..

Personal

Najemi told the media that he was the Pashtun nationality, Muslim by religion, though he did not practice all the rules. He was married to a woman of Jewish nationality and will raise his children in the Jewish faith ..
