Mustafa Sait Yazıcıoğlu

Mustafa Sait Yazıcıoğlu ( born February 22, 1949 in Sürmene in the province of Trabzon ) is a Turkish politician and Islamic theologian. He was president of the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs (1987 - 1992) and Minister of State for Turks living abroad (2007 - 2009).

Background, education and family

Yazıcıoğlu visited both the primary and secondary school in Milas in western Turkey, due to the post of his father. 1967-1971 he studied at the University of Ankara Islamic theology and graduated with a state exam. Subsequently, he was sent by the Turkish Ministry of Education to obtain his doctorate from 1972-1977 to France. As an assistant, he was able to return in 1977 to the University of Ankara. In his academic career, he got his title of professor in 1988.

Yazıcıoğlu is married and has two children. He was the brother of the deceased on 8 September 2003 the Governor of Denizli Recep Yazıcıoğlu, who was among the people as a super - Governor ( Vali Süper ) known.

Political career

From 1987 to 1992 Yazıcıoğlu headed the Bureau of Religious Affairs ( Turkic: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı ). In the 2002 elections Yazıcıoğlu was chosen for the ACP in the Turkish parliament. He was from August 29, 2007 Member of the Cabinet of II Erdoğan AKP government as Minister of State for Turks living abroad. In May 2009, he was succeeded in his post by Faruk Çelik.
