Mustang District

Mustang is one of 75 districts in Nepal. It lies in the Dhaulagiri zone. The northern two-thirds of the district (now the Upper Mustang ) correspond to the former Kingdom of Lo ( Mustang Kingdom ), which was annexed in the 18th century by the Kingdom of Gorkha, and thus came to Nepal. The culture was and is, however, still marked by strong Tibet. At the 2001 census, it had 14,981 inhabitants; in 2011 there were 13,452. He is, to Manang, the district with the lowest population in Nepal.
