Mustapha Ben Jafar

Mustafa Ben Jaafar (Arabic: مصطفى بن جعفر, DMG Mustafa b Ǧa ʿ far, . Born December 8, 1940 in Tunis ) is a Tunisian politician. He is founder and Secretary General of the Democratic Forum for Labour and Freedom ( FDTL ). Since November 2011 he has been President of the Constituent Assembly formed in 2011 after the election (September 2012).

Life

Ben Jaafar attended from 1950 to 1956 the Sadiki College. Then he studied radiology in France.

In 1978, he joined the movement Socialist Democrats at ( MDS), where in 1992 he became Secretary General.

Two years later he founded the FDTL. In 2009, he stepped in to the 2009 presidential election, but was excluded from the.

During the Revolution 2010/2011 he was appointed by Mohamed Ghannouchi Minister for Public Health in the transitional government of Tunisia on 17 January 2011 where he but already on January 27 in protest against the dominance of the former ruling party, the Constitutional Democratic collection (RCD) resigned and was replaced by Habiba Zehi.

After the election to the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia 2011, he was elected as chairman at its first meeting on 22 November.
