Spruce marten (Martes americana)

The subfamily must Elinae belonging to the marten family ( Mustelidae ) and includes, among other things, the rights marten, the weasel, the mink, and the polecats. 33 to 35 species in 10 to 11 genera are counted depending on the perspective to this subfamily.

General

It is relatively small prey animals, their fur is usually brown or black in color, with some species strips or other fur drawings are available.

The representatives of the subfamily are distributed almost worldwide, it only lacks in Australia and the Pacific region as well as in Madagascar and other remote islands. They use both ground-based and tree-dwelling species, a variety of habitats.

Endangering

All species of this subfamily are on the Red List of endangered species by the World Conservation Union IUCN. Three types are designated as endangered ( Endangered ); also three types are placed in the category of threatened ( Vulnerable ); a kind is provided with the category Near Threatened ( Near Threatened ); for two species are not enough data (Data Deficient ) for assessment available and the remaining species are listed as uncritical ( Least Concern ).

One way of Seenerz, is considered extinct (Extinct ).
