Muszaki

MUSZAKI [ muʃak ʲ i] ( German: Muschaken ) is a town in the municipality Janowo in Poland. It is located between the city Nidzica ( Neidenburg ) and the community Wielbark ( Willenberg ) and belongs to the powiat Nidzicki, Warmian -Masurian on.

History

The first written mention of the village dates back to October 4, 1359th

The village was already in pre-Reformation period the center of a church play. In the 20th Jrh there were the boys' reformatory Emmaus ( Muschaken ).

By 1945 Muschaken belonged to the district Neidenburg in the province of East Prussia.

During the First World War there was during the Battle of Tannenberg on August 30, 1914 at Muschaken fierce fighting.

During World War II the city was occupied by Soviet troops in January 1945 and was destroyed except for a few houses.
