Mut

Courage is a goddess of Egyptian mythology. It's like Isis or Hathor, the symbolic mother of Pharaoh. At Thebes she was particularly worshiped and displaced Amaunet as the wife of Amun. She is the mother of Khonsu. Mergers exist with Sekhmet and Bastet.

Representations

It appears on many temple walls next to her husband Amun, or as " Mistress of the Nine Bows " (symbol of all the enemies of Egypt ). Shown it is often with a colorful robe, wearing on his head a vulture cap and the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. In her hand she sometimes also bears the papyrus scepter or Upper Egypt.

Other figures show courage with winged arms outstretched protectively. In her role as mother Sekhmet it is presented in Thebes as a lioness in her role as mother Bastet, as a cat. With the head of a man or a vulture, with a phallus and the claws of a lion it is presented less frequently.

Since Queen (Pharaoh) Hatshepsut the representation of the goddess with including sitting vulture cap was.
