Mutase
Mutases are enzymes that move a functional group within the same molecule to another binding site. There are enzymes from the class of isomerases.
Examples of Mutases
- Methylmalonyl CoA mutase moves a carboxyl group on the adjacent carbon atom, and thus converts L- methylmalonyl -CoA into succinyl -CoA.
- 2,3- bisphosphoglycerate mutase converts 1,3- bisphosphoglycerate into 2,3- bisphosphoglycerate, by acting as a phosphate ester binds to the phosphate group from the Phosphosäureanhydridbindung the carboxy group of the carbon atom C1 of the hydroxy group of the C2 carbon atom.
- Glucose phosphate mutase converts glucose -1-phosphate and glucose -6-phosphate to another.
