History

Formation

Mute Math launched in 2001 as a long-distance collaboration between Paul Meany in New Orleans and Darren King in Springfield (Missouri ). The two knew each other from their work together in Meanys previous band Earthsuit. Occasionally Paul received instrumental demo CDs from Darren King. Pretty impressed by his efforts contacted Darren colleagues and asked him if he tinker with the demos a bit and a few of my own ideas can bring with. Darren said, and the two began a sort of songwriting ping -pong game to practice. After a few months Earthsuit was just beginning to unravel, and Darren was asked if he would take the place of the drummer. After the end of Earthsuit King went to New Orleans and spoke with Meany about a possible collaboration. The two worked on demos and played at a handful of shows under the nickname " Math ".

With the recruitment of guitarist Greg Hill, the trio worked in his studio in New Orleans, wrote and recorded some new songs. Paul sent some demos to an old friend and producer named Tedd T, who fell in love with the songs. The trio continued his work with demos from which Teddy T created an EP. In addition, the musicians went on tour with Macro Sick, the art-rock band from Adam LaClave, another former Earthsuit member.

Reset EP

After a few months, in consideration of various options for their new project, the group decided to work on alone. After discovering that the name " Math " has already been used by another group, they changed it officially in " Mute Math ". Meany convinced Tedd T and, tele prompt Records to found the lawyers and previous Earthsuit Manager Kevin Kookogey to control the Mute Math publications independently. Tele prompt graduated in 2004 a contract with the Warner Music Group and published in the fall of Mute Math 's Reset EP. The band left Macro Sick to start a tour and promote the publication. They used well-known websites like MySpace to spread their music. As the fan base grew, they saw that their performances in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Houston, Dallas, and Phoenix were sold out. They recorded their performances on and always renewed their video diaries with the latest recordings and ultimately won the bassist Roy Mitchell - Cárdenas, an old Earthsuit member, in the winter of 2004 on a permanent basis for their band. The group sold over 30,000 copies of their Reset EP before her 2006 album was postponed.
