Mutual UFO Network

The Mutual UFO Network ( MUFON ) is an American non-profit organization which has made the scientific study of the UFO phenomenon for the task. She is one of the largest and oldest organizations around the world in this topic and has branches in several countries of the world, including in Germany by the MUFON -CES.

Organization

MUFON sees itself as a global network of UFO researchers and is divided into regional sections which receive reports and carry out on -site investigations. The number of members is about 3,000, with the vast majority comes from the United States. MUFON was founded on 30 May 1969 as the Midwest UFO Network in Quincy, Illinois. Due to steady growth, the regional organization was renamed in 1973 in Mutual UFO Network.

Among the most prominent members of MUFON include the U.S. actor Dan Aykroyd, as well as the nuclear physicist and author Stanton Friedman.

Activities

When her task MUFON is the systematic collection and scientific analysis of UFO data, with the aim to understand the nature and origin of the UFO phenomenon and to inform the public about it. MUFON, to that end -witness accounts contrary, performs on-site investigations and can draw for different areas of expertise to experts for further analysis.

The Association holds an annual international symposium on UFO phenomenon, the results of which are also published in book form. Furthermore, MUFON is the editor of the MUFON UFO Journal monthly.

MUFON -CES

The Mutual UFO Network - Central European Society ( MUFON -CES ) is a European branch of MUFON with the responsibility for the German speaking countries in Europe. Since 1998 MUFON -CES also called Society for the Study of Anomalous Atmospheric and Radar Phenomena and is a registered charity.

MUFON -CES was founded in 1974 by Illobrand of Ludwiger and is today run by him. According to information from the MUFON -CES consists of about 70 members, of which about 50 scientists and engineers from universities, institutes and from the air and space industry. The organization is based in Feldkirchen-Westerham.

Just as the parent organization, the MUFON -CES will witness reports contrary to UFO sightings and performs on-site investigations. For this purpose, the MUFON -CES has working groups and experts in various fields such as image analysis, radar, neuroscience, cognitive psychology and aviation. MUFON -CES organized alongside regional meetings, an annual general meeting and published irregularly meeting or research reports.

Originally the MUFON -CES was accessible only for academics, but now the organization is open to any interested person.

Criticism

MUFON -CES is accused of wanting to critical objections not discuss in part.
