Geography

Geographical location

Feldkirchen- Westerham is the westernmost municipality in the district of Rosenheim and is located in Mangfalltal at the Mangfall in the Bavarian Alps. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Bruckmuhl, also the district of Rosenheim
  • Deer Mountain, and Valley Weyarn in Miesbach
  • Aying in the district of Munich
  • Glonn and Bavaria in the district of Ebersberg

The municipality is located in the ground moraine of the Inn glacier moraines and has in the form of Aschbacher mountain in the west and the Deer Mountain in the south.

Partnership communities are Jallais in western France and Genesio in South Tyrol.

History

From finds a stone ax, blades and scrapers is a settlement in the Neolithic period (5000 - 3200 BC) to close. Around 500 BC, Celtic tribes settled immigrant to Mangfall and Leitzach. From the Roman Empire (15 BC - 480 AD) could be west of Perca prove a section of the Roman road Via Julia from Augsburg to Salzburg. The rampart " Birg " north of small height churches dates from the time of the invasions of the Hungarians (9th - 10th century).

First known written evidence comes back from the year 795 in the monastery of St. Emmeram to Regensburg called Bishop Atto of Freising from the Tegernsee Abt Meginhart including the tithe of Feldkirchener church. In 1634 the plague raged in the community, in Feldkirchen 58 in Westerham 156 in Feldolling killed 48 people; the other districts had to complain about big losses. Because today still remember the Plague in Westerham, Feldolling and Anger. Since 1739, operated by the Thurn and Taxis postal empire Imperial wrong as " riding post " on the old salt route from Bad Reichenhall to Munich by Feldkirchen, since 1769 the " traveling people post ".

The second Gemeindeedikt were Feldkirchen, collected vague ( with Westerham ) and Großhöhenrain ( with Kleinhöhenrain ) on 17 May 1818 a separate political communities. At that time stood in Feldkirchen near the church with the farm buildings 15 more property and a salt store. The economy lived mainly from the well-traveled road salt. Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the municipalities of Feldkirchen and vagueness were merged to form the new municipality of Feldkirchen- Westerham. The district of Bad Aibling was dissolved at the same time. Thus, the new municipality was assigned to the district of Rosenheim. On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community Höhenrain was incorporated.

While the church in 1993 received a single zip code, the district vague kept the calling code Bruckmühls today.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is divided vertically: on the left is a golden hawk with a red collar on blue bottom, right, a black chevron on a white background. In the lower quarter, a golden wave beam passes over the entire width of the crest.

The falcon motif comes from the arms of Count Neuburg- Falkenstein, the rafters of the seal coat of arms of local noble family of Westerham. The wave bar symbolizes the Mangfall, which influences the landscape.

The coat of arms was originally introduced in 1964 as a municipal coat of arms vague by then- Mayor Max Reitner. In the municipal reform 1972 Vagener coat of arms was adopted unchanged for the new combined Feldkirchen -Westerham.

Traffic

The community is connected through the station Westerham, which is served hourly by regional trains of the relation wooden churches -Rosenheim to the Mangfalltalbahn. The bus of the RVO through several districts of the municipality. At the weekend, a night express is additionally configured to and from Rosenheim. A motorway connection is given on the driveways of the A8 ( Weyarn deer and mountain).
