Edling, Germany

Edling is a place and a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim and lies between Ebersberg and Wasserburg am Inn.

Geography

Geographical location

The place is located in the foothills of the Alps Edling in Upper Bavaria on a flat gravel plain in the midst of a moraine and gravel landscape of Inngletschers the last ice age. The village is conveniently located near the B 304 and B 15 The municipal area extends west and south of the village Edling. Furthermore it has Edling a station on the railway line Grafing - Wasserburg am Inn, which is served by felting Express. A second stop of the felts Express train is in Brandstätt. From the place Edling from it are to Ebersberg 18 km, in the City of Munich 50 km, 26 km to Rosenheim, Traunstein 48 km and 63 km to Landshut.

History

The place is in 1041 in the records of the monastery was first mentioned Attl and was probably sitting Wasserburg ministeriales the Ettelinger. Later the place to Rentamt Munich Regional Court Wasserburg of the Electorate of Bavaria belonged. Edling was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria 1818 location of an independent political community.

The Free State of Bavaria struck the community Edling with effect from May 1, 1978 in the town of Wasserburg am Inn to which should be so compensated for the loss of centrality within the county government reform in 1972. By judgment of 29 April 1981, the Bavarian Constitutional Court ruled that the annexation was void. The community Edling has since again an independent political community.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Steppach was incorporated. This happened in the voluntary phase of the local government reform of municipalities in Bavaria.

Personalities

Franziska Lechner was born in 1833 in Edling and spent her childhood. She became known as a socially engaged nun and founder of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Love in Vienna. According to her elementary school Edling is named.

  • Amphitheater at the Stoa The " Stoa " ( bavarian for stone ) is a glacial erratic ( boulder ), which was found in gravel mining operations. Due to its size, it was not transported away. After the gravel mining was stopped, were built around the boulder stone steps based on ancient amphitheater in the course of several years by the Cultural and Folk Society. Here, many cultural events, including open-air productions of the water Burger theater Belacqua and The Ship of Fools, and open-air screenings of the water Burger cinemas Utopia.
