Muzaffarids (Iran)

The Muzaffariden (Persian مظفریان ) were a Persian dynasty that ruled from 1314 to 1393 in southern Iran and Kurdistan.

Originally descended from the dynasty of Khorasan. Under the rule of Ilchane but was the namesake of Sharaf ad-Din Muzaffar governor of Meybod at Isfahan. His son Mubariz ad-Din Muhammad (1314 - 1358) occupied in 1318 Yazd, enforced its recognition as governor and said after the downfall of the dynasty of the Ilkhanate in 1335 its independence.

With the conquest of Kerman ( 1341 ), Shiraz ( 1353 ) and Isfahan and Tabriz ( in 1357 ) rose Mubariz ad-Din Muhammad on the most important rulers in Iran. But this soon led to violent clashes with the Dschalairiden for supremacy in Iran and Iraq. The Muzaffariden could, inter alia, not claim dominion over Tabriz.

Under Shah Schudja (1358 - 1384) there was a strong promotion of art and culture, especially in the residence Shiraz. However, after 1387 broke out power struggles within the dynasty, which was then eliminated in 1393 by Tamerlane.
