The Sea Star was a South Korean oil tanker.
On the way from Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura to Rio de Janeiro, the ship collided on 19 December 1972 in the Gulf of Oman with the tanker Horta Barbosa; both ships caught fire. On the Sea Star twelve crew members were killed. The Sea Star burned after hitting another five days and then decline after a series of explosions. Approximately 115,000 tons of crude oil were released.
