In good and in bad times ( Mesmerized ) is an Australian- New Zealand -British drama film by Michael Laughlin from the year 1986. The main role was played by Jodie Foster.

Action

The film tells the true story of Victoria Thompson, who lived in New Zealand in the 19th century. Victoria, an orphan, married at the age of 18 years the wealthy Oliver Thompson. The husband turns out later to be despotic and avaricious.

Victoria falls in love then in George, Oliver's brother. She wants to take together with him a fresh start, but fail the plans.

Victoria poisoned Oliver, who dies very slowly. She is convicted and sentenced, her case is known nationwide.
