Näcip Cihanov

Nasib Gajasowitsch Schiganow (Russian Назиб Гаязович Жиганов; Tatar Нәҗип Гаяз улы Җиһанов / Näcip Ğayaz Uli Cihanov; Najip Jihanov, Nazib Gayazovich Zhiganov; * 2 Januarjul / January 15 1911greg in Uralsk, .. † 2 June 1988) was a Tatar Composer.

Schiganow taught himself to play the piano and attended from 1928 the Conservatory of Kazan. By 1935, studied in Moscow at Heinrich Litinski. In 1938 he was appointed Head of the Tartar Opera Theater and Ballet, the ( Escape ), opened with his thesis, the Opera Katschkyn. In addition, he taught at the conservatory of Kazan, which he headed as director since 1945 and where he worked as a professor since 1953.

He composed, among others eight operas Tatar texts, two ballets, fifteen symphonies and a symphonic poem, a Tatar suite and an orchestral overture, a string quartet, piano works, songs and film scores.

Schiganow regarded as the founder of an independent Tatar music. He was honored three times with the State Prize of the USSR (1948, 1950 and 1970) received in 1948 the title of artist of the people, the Lenin Prize in 1970 and in 1981 became a Hero of Socialist Labor. 2000, the Conservatory of Kazan was named after him.
