Nader Naderpour

Nader Nader Pour (* June 6, 1929 in Tehran, † 18 February 2000 in Los Angeles ) was an Iranian writer and poet. He married in 1957 Shahla Hirbod. The marriage produced a daughter emerged. The couple separated 1961. 1984 he married Jaleh Bassiri, to whom he dedicated his last volume of poetry.

Life

Born in an artistically and culturally active family Nader was sent in 1950 by his school education in Iran for literature study in France at the Sorbonne in Paris.

After his return to Iran Nader Nader Pour worked in the Department of Arts and Culture and was editor of the monthly magazine " Honar va Mardom " ( art for the people ).

1964, Nader Nader Pour the study of Italian literature to Rome. As in 1968, the writers of Iran organized in a professional association, Nader Nader Pour one of the founding members. After his return to Iran in 1971, Nader Nader Pour headed the department of contemporary literature ( Goroohe Adabe Emrooz ) of the state radio and television in addition to his editorial work at the magazine " Namayesh " (theater).

From Honar va Mardom ( art for the people ) a cultural program had become, under which weekly live concerts were organized in the parks of Tehran on radio and television and broadcast nationwide.

Since 1940, published Nader Nader Pour poems. Also during his tenure at the Department of Arts and Culture and the state radio, he wrote and published more poems.

After the Islamic Revolution Nader Nader Pour fled to France in 1980. In 1987 he moved to the United States to California. There he taught at UCLA and UC Berkeley.

Nader Nader Pour died on 18 February 2000. He is buried at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. After his death, his widow founded the Nader Pour Foundation to his memory.

Reception

Nader Nader Pour considered as classical Iranian poets of the modern age. He has published nine books of poetry, which have been translated in part into English, French, German and Italian. His language is vivid and deeply interwoven with the texture of Iranian literature.
