Nāgarī script

The Nagari script is the predecessor of Devanagari and other writings and was initially only used for writing Sanskrit.

The Nagari script came around the 8th century AD in Ancient India as eastern variant of the Gupta script on (the western variant, the Sarada is ). From her various writings, such as later -developed the Devanagari, the Eastern Nagari script and the Nandinagari. In addition, the Nagari script also influenced the development of the derived from Sarada Gurmukhi script.
