Nagarkot ( Newari नगरकोत ) is a place in Nepal in Bhaktapur district, about 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu and 14 kilometers northeast of Bhaktapur. It is located at the crest of the eastern side of Kathmandu Valley at 2195 meters altitude. The place is a popular destination for locals and tourists and has several restaurants, snack bars and lodges. To the nearby Bhaktapur regular bus services. The real attraction is not the place itself but the fantastic view of the mountain chain of the Langtang Himalayas from Annapurna to Everest massif with the peaks of Langtang Lirung I ( 7226 m ) and the Gan Chenpo ( 6387 m). On a clear day even the Shisha Pangma ( 8027 m) can be seen. The best view you have in the early morning and late afternoon when the haze of Kathmandu does not spoil the view. Otherwise, you need of course a bit of luck that no clouds obscure the view.
