Nagoum Yamassoum

Nagoum Yamassoum (born 1954 ) was Prime Minister from 1999 to 2002 Chad.

Political career

He was born on 13 December 1999 Prime Minister under the ruling since 1990 president Idriss Déby. Previously, he was President of the Constitutional Court formed on 29 April 1999 ( Conseil constitutionally ). In this office was his successor on January 6, 2000, the later Prime Minister Pascal Yoadimnadji. It belongs to the party Mouvement patriotique du Salut (MPS ), which won the parliamentary elections on 21 April 2002.

He resigned from his position as Prime Minister on 12 June 2002. During the tenure of Prime Minister Moussa Faki he was on 25 June 2003 Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for African Integration and Deputy Prime Minister, to a government reshuffle on 7 August 2005. During his tenure as foreign minister, he sought international assistance for about 130,000 refugees who have fled to Chad because of the conflict in Darfur from Sudan. Several times he has been involved in mediation talks between the local parties.
