Naksansa
Naksansa ( Kor. 낙산사, Hanja洛 山寺) or Naksan Temple is a Buddhist temple complex of the Jogye Order in Korea. The plant on the slope of the mountain Naksan (also called " Obongsan " ) offers a spectacular view of the Sea of Japan. It is located halfway between Sokcho and Yangyang.
Naksansa was founded in 671 AD and has significant art treasures. The complex is dominated by the 1977 jobs created, 15 m high granite statue of the Goddess of Mercy Haesugwaneumsang.
The temple complex was on 5 April 2005 was largely destroyed by a forest fire. The temple bell from the 15th century melted. As under previous destruction ( by the Mongols in the 13th century and in 1953 after the Korean War ) Naksansa was largely rebuilt true to original.
