Namik Dokle

Namik Dokle ( born March 11, 1946 in Durres ) is an Albanian journalist, writer and politician of the Socialist Party (PS).

Biography

After schooling, he studied from 1965 to 1970 agricultural science at the Agricultural Institute of Tirana and graduated as an agricultural economist from. He also graduated from 1968-1970 to study journalism at the University of Tirana.

He then became a journalist at the daily newspaper Puna, whose editor in chief, he was 1983-1989. After working as a secretary of the Journalists' Association from 1989 to 1990 he was editor of the daily newspaper in 1991 Zëri i Popullit.

Dokle, the 1991 Member of the Socialist Party, was first elected in 1992 to the Members of the Albanian Parliament and was this ever since as a representative for the district of Elbasan. During this time, he was from 1992 to 2000, representatives of Albania in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

At the same time he was also deputy chairman of the party, not only since 1991 Member of the board of HP, but at the same time from 1992 to 1997 leader of the Socialists in Parliament between 1992 and 1996. After that, he was from 1996 to 1997 organizing secretary of the PS, before he served as party secretary for ideology from 1999 to 2000.

After the 2001 parliamentary elections he was elected in 2001 as a successor to Skënder Gjinushi Parliament President on 4 September. Already on 30 April 2002, his party colleague Servet Pellumbi followed him in the office of President of Parliament.

In December 2003, Prime Minister Fatos Nano appointed him Vice - Prime Minister in his cabinet, where he served until the election defeat of the PS in July 2005.
