Nancy Carrillo

Nancy Carrillo de la Paz ( born January 11, 1986 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban volleyball player. The middle blocker already counted as a 16 -year-old to the best players in the World Cup 2002.

Career

Carrillo began her career in 1995 in the youth team of their home club Ciudad Habana. Four years later, the middle blocker came into the first team. After just one season, she was inducted into the Cuban national team. At the young age of sixteen, she took on the team of the reigning title holder part in the 2002 World Cup in Germany, where she finished fifth and was with their service so successful that it received the award as the best Aufschlägerin the tournament. In the 2004 Olympics she won the bronze medal at the NORCECA Championship 2005, she was with the national team in the final. With the permission of the government it was allowed in the 2005/06 season with the Russian first division club VK Uralochka - NTMK play before she returned to Havana. In 2007, she was first continental champion and in the next two years, she reached the final of the World Grand Prix and third place in the NORCECA competition. They also gained more individual awards at various tournaments. After two years break Nancy Carrillo launched a comeback in 2011 in Brazil at São Caetano Esporte Clube. Since 2012 she plays in Switzerland at Zurich Volero.
