Nao Yazawa

Nao Yazawa (Japanese谷 沢 直, Nao Yazawa, born July 29, 19xx located in Tokyo ) is a Japanese manga artist.

Biography

Yazawa already wanted to be as a child manga artist. Although they ran the drawing in her youth as a hobby and never really wanted to be a comic artist, she applied for her study of Chinese history at different publishers. After she had won first prize in a talent competition, she worked for a year as an assistant for other artists.

My first work as a professional illustrator was Gengoro mairu! . The short story was published in 1989 in mainly at boys of primary school age ( Shōnen ) directing manga magazine CoroCoro Comic Bessatsu, a sister magazine of CoroCoro. There were other short stories for the magazine. The Shogakukan Publishing, the publisher of CoroCoro wanted to establish a similar CoroCoro magazine for girls and therefore founded the Pyon Pyon magazine. Yazawa decided henceforth to draw shōjo manga for female readers and created several works for Pyon Pyon, such as the Magical Girl Manga maho shōjo Chūkana Paipai! after the eponymous television series.

The breakthrough for illustrator however, only came when they released the manga series Wedding Peach for an idea of Sukehiro Tomita in Ciao magazine from 1994 to 1996. Wedding Peach has been successfully implemented as a anime television series and translated into several languages.

She created the storyboard for the 1992 anime film appeared Mirai no Omoide by Fujiko F. Fujio. Apart from her work on the commercial manga market Yazawa also published dōjinshi. Special recognition has her dōjinshi Shinku Chitai obtained, the published of the German publishing house Egmont Manga & Anime in the magazine Manga Power.

The illustrator who admired Katsuhiro Otomo and among other Osamu Tezuka, takes her ideas for her stories from her knowledge of Chinese history, but also from books, films and his own experiences.

Yazawa lives in Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture.
