Nappy Brown

Nappy Brown ( born October 12, 1929 in Charlotte, North Carolina, † September 20, 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina; actually Napoleon Brown Goodson Culp ) was a popular, especially in the 1950s blues singers. Brown was known for rolling the consonants in a special way. Supposedly believed Herman Lubinsky, the head of Savoy Records, the first hearing, Brown was singing in Yiddish.

Life

Brown grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he started early, gospel singing. He later became the lead singer of the Heavenly Lights, a religious band that finally to Newark ( New Jersey) moved to sign with the resident record label Savoy Records. In 1954, Brown parted then start from the Heavenly Lights is a blues and R & B- oriented solo career.

Immediately after the publication of his less successful debut single Is It True came in the same year, 1955, the breakthrough with Do not Be Angry. Until the late 1950s, yet there appeared a number of other singles, including Open up That Door, Little by Little, Piddily Patter Patter and The Right Time. On many of Brown's songs were heard striking saxophone solos by the likes of Sam " The Man" Taylor, Budd Johnson and Al Sears. But the end of the decade presented is that this is the end of Brown's music career dar.

Mid-1980s had a Brown comeback when he with the Heart Fixers as the backing band released 1984 Blues Album gates up. Until the 1990s, he released albums regularly.

Brown died on September 20, 2008 in his hometown of Charlotte.
