Nara (also: Nera, actually: nəra bana " sky - language ") is a language that is in the region of Gash Barka spoken by about 80,000 people in the west north of Eritrea Barentu.
She is also under the pejorative term Barya (also: Barea, Amharic for "Slave "), which was formerly used for their speakers, are known. The speakers are called Nara and are Muslims.
Nara is attributed to the branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family ostsudanischen. Within this group it belongs to the subgroup of languages, the pronoun of the first person singular ( " I ") with the element k form (ag).
The basic word order of the language is subject-object - verb.
The language has until around 1976, when Nara began to write their language, virtually no literature tradition.
In Eritrea, Nara is recognized as one of nine " national languages " that apply formally as equals; in fact Tigrinya and Arabic have by far the greatest importance as official languages.
