Natalie Grainger

Natalie Grainger ( born July 8, 1977 in Manchester, England) is a former English - American squash player.

Life

Natalie Grainger was born in Manchester but grew up in South Africa, where their parents are. In September 1999, she decided on the professional tour for her native England to play before they took from November 2002 to the United States. On 13 February 2007, she received the U.S. citizenship. She was married for several years with the American Eddie Pohrer and entered into this time as Natalie Pohrer on the tour. Since their split in 2003 they played again under her birth name Grainger.

Natalie Grainger had a younger brother, Keith ( b. 1980 ), who died of cancer in 2001.

Career

Natalie Grainger won on the WSA World Tour numerous titles, including the Kuala Lumpur Open, the Qatar Classic and the Tournament of Champions. In the 2002 season, they reached the final of the World Cup, but lost Sarah Fitz- Gerald 10:8, 9:3, 7:9 and 9:7. Nevertheless, they could conquer for a month the top of the world rankings when she replaced Carol Owens in June 2003. This was also the vorbeizog back to Grainger from July. In the 2004 season, Natalie Grainger was in the final of the British Open, which she lost to Rachael Grinham with 6:9, 9:5, 9:0 and 9:3.

At the 1998 Commonwealth Games Natalie Grainger won two bronze medals for South Africa. In doubles, she reached the semi-finals with Claire Nitch, in Mixed She managed this with Rodney Durbach. As a U.S. citizen, she joined in 2007 at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she won silver with the U.S. team. In individual competition, she secured the gold medal.

In December 2010, Natalie Grainger ended her professional career, but won in 2011 their fifth U.S. national champion. She was also active for many years as president of the former WISPA. She put this resigned in April 2011.
