Nathorst Land

Nathorst country (sometimes Nathorsts country) is a peninsula belonging to the Svalbard island of Spitsbergen. The area lies between the Van Mijenfjorden and Van lobe fjords in the southern part of Spitsbergen. In the east, the peninsula is bounded (from north to south) from Paulabreen, the Kjølberget, the upper part of Strongbreen and then the Doktorbreen. In the north and northeast, army - country in southeastern Torell Land.

North of Van Mijenfjorden the larger peninsula Nordenskioldbukta country joins. South of Van lobe fjords lies Wedel Jarlsberg - country.

Nathorst country is outside of the 10 designated as Management Area area, where tourists are allowed to move freely. Tourists need a permit from the Sysselmannen and proof of insurance for any bailouts for staying in this area. There are no settlements here.

Patron of Nathorst country was the Swedish Arctic explorer, geologist and palaeobiologist Alfred Gabriel Nathorst. He led expeditions to Spitsbergen in 1870, 1882 and 1898, and in 1899 to Greenland.
