National Assembly (Ecuador)

The National Assembly ( Asamblea Nacional) is the parliament of the Republic of Ecuador and has replaced the Constitution of 2008 the National Congress ( Congreso Nacional). It is selected via a national (15 MPs) and provincial lists ( each with 2 MPs ), the emigrants also by lists (USA and Canada Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania ) can choose. There is elective, are excluded from only the emigrants and members of the military.

The first elections to the National Assembly took place on 26 April 2009, the first National Assembly convened on July 31, 2009. The strongest group of 124 MPs strong Parliament with 59 MPs, the ruling party Alianza País, which provides the Parliament with President Fernando Cordero.
