National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. ( abbreviated: NBC USA) is an American Baptist church covenant.

The church is one of the largest churches among African Americans and is named after the Southern Baptist Convention, the second largest Baptist community worldwide. For NBC USA are 41,000 communes with over 8,300,000 members.

History

Founded in 1880, the Foreign Mission Baptist Convention in Montgomery, Alabama. Elias Camp Morris (1855-1922) helped found the organization Foreign Mission Baptist Convention. On September 28, 1895, the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. was formed by the merger of the organizations Foreign Mission Convention, the American National Baptist Convention (founded 1886) and the Baptist Education Convention ( founded in 1893 ).

Two organizations split off in the 20th century: the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. ( founded in 1915 ) and the Progressive National Baptist Convention (founded in 1961).
