National Counterterrorism Center

The National Counterterrorism Center ( German: National Anti -terrorist headquarters), official abbreviation NCTC, unofficially also called CTC, is a U.S. government organization for intelligence analysis and combating of terrorism directed against U.S. interests. She reports to the Director of National Intelligence and exerts him out against an advisory role, she realized as an information collection of various federal agencies. He is currently Director of the NCTC is Matthew G. Olsen.

Legwork Organizations

The NCTC integrates information from various ministries and other federal agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State Department, the Defense Department, Homeland Security, the Department of Energy, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the United States Capitol Police.

History

The NCTC is the direct successor agency of the former Terrorist Threat Integration Center ( TTIC ), which was established on 1 May 2003. It was presented at the State of the Union Address in 2003 by U.S. President George W. Bush. The organization should have the intelligence activities of various federal agencies ( Department of Homeland Security, FBI Counterterrorism Division, Counter Terrorist Center of the Director of Central Intelligence and the Department of Defense ) integrate and coordinate. Reports were delivered to the Director of Central Intelligence, who is also appointed after consultation with the Director of the FBI, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Chairman of the TTIC.

By Executive Order 13354 (27 August 2004), the NCTC was finally established. Through the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (17 December 2004, entry into force June 15, 2005 ), it was established by federal law and the Director of National Intelligence assumed. The former TTIC was the NCTC incorporated.
